Year 6 Canberra Tour

As part of their Civics and Citizenship education, our Year 6 students recently embarked on an education tour of our nation's capital. Throughout the immersive tour, the students engaged in a myriad of dynamic learning opportunities that focused on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy.

Over the course of five days, the students explored various institutions and attractions of Canberra, including the National Gallery of Australia, Parliament House, the Museum of Australian Democracy, the National Electoral Education Centre, the Australian War Memorial, Mt Ainslie, the National Dinosaur Museum, the Deep Space Communication Complex and Questacon. Despite a full itinerary, the students also found time to enjoy a day of snow-filled fun at Corin Forest.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians having the opportunity to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in covering the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government is providing funding to our School in the amount of $150 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate Program towards these costs. The rebate is paid directly to the School upon completion of the excursion.
