St Luke's Primary School students have capped off the term with an exceptional performance at the Wide Bay Primary All Schools Touch Carnival, bringing home multiple podium finishes, including a championship title.
The School's three Primary Touch Football teams competed against 16 teams in each division at the regional carnival, which brought together the best Primary School talent from across Wide Bay for a full day of high-level competition.
Despite the challenging conditions on a long, hot day, St Luke's students demonstrated remarkable skill and sportsmanship across all divisions.
The standout performance came from the Boys' team, who claimed the Wide Bay championship after defeating Woongarra State School in the Grand Final. The victory came after a tense semi-final where they successfully held off a determined Norville State School side.
This win marks the second consecutive championship for the St Luke's Boys' team, following last year's joint victory in a rain-affected final. The School has now secured three Wide Bay titles in the past four years, cementing our status as a powerhouse in regional Primary Touch Football.
The Girls' team delivered a strong campaign, finishing at the top of their pool in the preliminary rounds. After a narrow defeat in the semi-final, the team showed impressive character to win a dramatic extra-time playoff match, securing third place overall in the Wide Bay region.
St Luke's Mixed team rounded out the School's successful day with a sixth-place finish. After placing second in their pool, the team competed well in the playoff rounds to claim their final position.
These results are a testament not just to the talent and determination of our young athletes but also to the way the students conduct themselves both on and off the field, displaying positive attitudes and exemplary sportsmanship in both victory and defeat.
