17 July 2023

Dear Staff and members of the St Luke's Anglican School Community

This year St Luke's Anglican School has been capably led by Mrs Virginia Warner. As Principal, Virginia has guided our community with a wisdom and compassion matched by her committed and deep Anglican faith. Virginia has advised the School Council that she and her husband Dean will return to the Gold Coast at the end of this year, taking her closer to her family. We take this opportunity to publicly thank Virginia for her generosity and for all she has done for our School. On behalf of the St Luke's community, we wish Virginia and her husband Dean all the best for the future knowing that Virginia will be leaving a positive mark on the school and that we have similarly left an imprint on their hearts.

The St Luke's School Council and the Anglican Schools Commission have undertaken a thorough recruitment process to identify the next Principal to lead St Luke's.

On behalf of The Right Reverend Cameron Venables, Bishop Administrator Anglican Church Southern Queensland and the Council of St Luke's Anglican School, I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Matthew Hughes as the next Principal of St Luke's Anglican School, commencing in January 2024.

Matthew, who is well known to many of you, is a much valued member of the St Luke's leadership team, bringing over two decades of experience in education and 15 years in leadership roles. Mathew is a gifted and authentic Christian leader with dedication to St Luke's and the Bundaberg community.

In his own words, Matthew is passionate about the transformative power of education, is committed to serving others and has a desire to help young people build useful and fulfilling life. Matthew has a Masters of Learning and Development (Education Leadership) with Distinction and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and a member of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders.

Matthew and his family are committed members of the St Luke's community and actively aspire to and embrace the St Luke's Way: Faith, Performance and Honour.

On behalf of the community, we congratulate Matthew on his appointment as Principal.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Herna Conradie
