Scholarships, Bursaries and Financial Support

Scholarships, bursaries and financial support are made available each year to students enrolling in Year 7 to 12. Preference is given to those applicants who would greatly benefit from a St Luke’s education, but are unable to attend without help and financial assistance.

Scholarships and Bursaries Overview


St Luke’s Anglican School is committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities for new and existing students who demonstrate excellence in their standard of achievement.

St Luke’s offers a range of academic and specialist scholarships for students entering Middle (Year 7 – 9) and Senior (Year 10 – 12) School.  Successful scholarship recipients will receive a discount on part of the tuition fees. As St Luke's tuition is a fully-inclusive fee structure, with student's education contained within the tuition fees, all awarded scholarships are required to cover the normal costs associated with a student's education but do not include enrolment fees and deposits, capital levies, text book and uniform purchases.

All applicants (Academic and Specialist) require a student to maintain high levels of:

  • Support of the ethos of St Luke’s Anglican School
  • Positive contribution to the co-curricular life of the School

Scholarships

Academic Scholarships

St Luke's Anglican School is committed to the pursuit of academic excellence and creative learning through exceptional educational programs and development opportunities across a broad range of activities. To this end, our School assists students and their families with school tuition through the Academic Scholarship.

Students are selected for this type of scholarship based on their academic record, academic awards achieved, NAPLAN results, and upon interview and review with the Principal. 

Specific conditions considered in the annual review of an Academic Scholarship include:

  • Students are expected to maintain a high academic average performance
All-Round Ability Scholarships

St Luke's Anglican School is committed to supporting students who display all-round academic ability and talent in at least one co-curricular area. To this end, our School assists students and their families with school tuition through the All-Round Ability Scholarship.  

Specific conditions considered in the annual review of an All-Round Ability Scholarship include:- 

  • Students are expected to maintain their strong academic ability, plus continue to perform in at least one co-curricular area best suited to their ability
Performing Arts Scholarships


St Luke’s Anglican School is committed to assisting students in the pursuit of their performing arts and cultural achievements through school tuition support and in some cases, payment of ongoing private music tuition. Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellence in the areas of visual art, music, drama or cultural pursuits. To this end, our School assists students and their families with school tuition through the Performing Arts Scholarship.

A music resume must be included with any applications on a music basis, including AMEB or similar exam achievements, along with any Eisteddfod awards or certificates. 

Specific conditions considered in the annual review of a Performing Arts Scholarship include:- 

  • An expectation of the Students to participate and achieve ongoing high performance standards in their chosen instrument or Performance Art discipline at the time of entry, or 
  •  Participation in an alternative instrument or Performance Art discipline as approved by the School
Choral Scholarships


St Luke's Anglican School is committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities for new and existing students. The Choral Scholarship is available to students entering Senior School (Years 10 - 12) who will be actively involved with vocal and other contributions to a church choir nominated by mutual agreement between the Principal and the Anglican Parish of Bundaberg. 

Specific conditions applicable to the Choral Scholarship include: 

  • Commit to Choral opportunities at the School 
  • Commit typically to one singing lesson, one choral practice and one choral performance per week during term time, usually at Christ Church, Bundaberg or at another appropriate venue
Sporting Performance Scholarships

St Luke's Anglican School is committed to supporting students in pursuit of their sporting aspirations and excellence and can assist students and their families with school tuition through the Sporting Performance Scholarship. St Luke’s can also offer a Personalised Performance Program, which may allow for alterations to subject timetables and greater access to training facilities for those looking to concentrate on sporting careers. To be applicable for consideration, students must achieve a minimum level of state representation in a single sport, or regional representation across a number of sporting codes. To this end, our School assists students and their families with school tuition through the Sporting Performance Scholarship.

Sporting Performance Scholarships are generally offered to students participating in sporting codes that are listed in the St Luke's co-curricular activities list. 

Specific conditions considered in the annual review of a Sporting Performance Scholarship include:-

  • An expectation of the student to participate and achieve ongoing high performance standards in their chosen sport at the time of entry, or 
  • Participation in an alternative sport as approved by the School

Bursaries

The Deanery of the Burnett Bursary


This bursary is available to Anglican students who are actively involved in an area of Ministry or service within their Anglican Parish. Preferred ways of involvement include:

  • Singing with a Church Choir
  • Musician in a Church Musical Group
  • Teaching Sunday School
  • Leadership in a Children’s or Youth Group
  • Altar Server at Parish Worship
  • Some other notable area

Included with an introductory letter, students should state how they have involved themselves in an area of Ministry or Service within their Anglican Parish and that they intend to continue to do so during the tenure of the bursary. The application must be accompanied by the endorsement of their local Anglican Parish Priest.

Specific conditions considered in the annual review of the Deanery of the Burnett Bursary include: 

  • Students are expected to maintain their active involvement in their area of Ministry or Service within their Anglican Parish
Financial Assistance Bursary

St Luke's understands that, at times, its existing families can be impacted by altered employment conditions, altered family relationships or natural disasters. It is for this reason that the Financial Assistance Bursary was established, to provide tuition concessions at the discretion of the Principal.

How to Apply for a St Luke's Scholarship or Bursary

All scholarship and bursary applications should be emailed to Registrar, Caroline Warnock. Click here to email Caroline. Applicants are required to please provide:

  • An introductory letter written by the student, stating why they would like to attend St Luke’s, and why they would make a worthy candidate for the scholarship/bursary
  • The two most recent academic semester reports from their current school.
  • Copies of Certificates of Achievement, including NAPLAN results.
  • A reference from a member of their current school, sporting or cultural organisation or association that the student is currently affiliated with, and
  • Any other supporting documentation of achievements in the area of sport or co-curricular activities.

All applicants will be required to attend an interview with the Principal and/or relevant Head of Department where required.
