St Luke’s Teacher Inspires Thai Students in Film

Thailand Teacher

Mr. Wilson set his Thai students a creative challenge: film and produce a short video showing what a holiday in their popular tourist destination looks like, from the point of view of the locals who live there. Among many fantastic efforts, student Try Pakaphol produced a stand-out clip which exposed a simpler, less glamorous side to life – stark contrast to the usual stunning Thai scenery we are familiar with.

Mr Wilson’s trip was made possible through a $5000 scholarship from the Australia-Thailand Institute. Proceeds from this scholarship were used to purchase five Google Nexus tablets that would assist students in editing and publishing their films.

Mr Wilson hopes that his visit and film project will inspire students of Pattaya high school to further their education. Back home, St Luke’s year 9 media class benefited greatly from studying videos that Mr Wilson’s Thai students created, while his year 10 Humanities class used these films as part of their unit Geographies of Human Wellbeing.
