St Luke’s Rowing South Queensland Schools Regatta!
St Luke’s athletes Jamie Joiner, Montanna Clark, Georgia Weston, Elizabeth Newell and Sabina Murchie achieved an impressive result at the South Queensland Schools Regatta at Wyaralong Rowing Centre over the weekend.
U17 Single Scull and Double Scull
Jamie and Montanna competed in both divisions. Though Jamie rowed well in the heat of the Single Scull, she was unable to progress to the semi-final.
Montanna progressed through her heat and the semi-final, then crossed the finish line fourth in the final. Her finish was strong, closing the large gap between herself and the third place rower. Spectators had to wait for the official result to learn which of the two competitors placed third.
Montanna and Jamie rowed well in the Schoolgirls Year 11 Double Scull, finishing their heat in 7th place.
Schoolgirls Single Scull, Schoolgirls Pair, Schoolgirls Double Scull
Sabina and Elizabeth rowed in the Schoolgirls Single Scull, the Schoolgirls Pair, as well as the Schoolgirls Double Scull. Both athletes progressed through their heats to the semi-finals in the Schoolgirls Single Scull, while Elizabeth competed brilliantly in the final earning her 6th place.
In the Schoolgirls Pair race, both Sabina and Elizabeth progressed to the final, however they were unable to win a place.
Finally, in the Schoolgirls Double Scull, Sabina and Elizabeth achieved an impressive win in their heat, then placed 2nd in the Final.
Schoolgirls U15 Scull
Georgia rowed for the Schoolgirls U15 Single Scull race and won her heat convincingly. She then charged on to win the semi-final race, and ultimately, the final.
Congratulations to all athletes who competed with impressive sportsmanship throughout the regatta.
