It is a pleasure to receive this acknowledgement from Mr Robert Randall, the CEO of the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), the government organisation responsible for the Australian curriculum and NAPLAN.

According to Mr Randall, “ACARA has identified St Luke’s as having demonstrated substantially above average gains in NAPLAN results. On behalf of ACARA I extend my congratulations to you and your school community on this achievement. Gains of this magnitude are significant and worthy of highlighting and acknowledgement.”

The Principal, Mr Craig Merritt, said that this is a pleasing endorsement of the high quality teaching and learning that happens at St Luke’s.

“We don’t do intense preparation for NAPLAN; however we do ensure the students are test-wise and feel relaxed and quietly confident when engaging in these tests. We ask students to approach the experience as an academic challenge.”

“At St Luke’s we challenge our students and staff to be the best they can be.”

“We use this information to benchmark how our curriculum is developing strong literacy and numeracy skills in our students as these are the foundation for a broad and deep education.”

“The Bundaberg region is blessed with a number of high quality, inclusive schools for parents to make informed choices regarding the best education for their children.”
