An All Girls Affair at Hinkler Lions Youth of the Year Club Final
Last night five talented St Luke’s students delivered compelling speeches in a bid to win the Hinkler Lions Youth of the Year Club Final.
Hinkler Lions Club coordinated the event that started with each student sitting for a 30 minute interview in front of a panel of 6 judges. Each student was asked 2 impromptu questions of which they has 2 minutes to make a detailed response to the judges and audience. Afterward this round, they each presented a 5 minute speech on the topic of their choice.
Mrs Aplin, Head of Communication Faculty and Mrs Goodchap, co-ordinator for the event helped all the students to prepare for their speeches in the weeks leading up to the event.
All five students were presented with a gift and certificate of participation by the Hinkler Lions Club. Kira-Lee Cathcart won the Public Speaking section, however it was to be Dayna William’s night. Dayna won the overall event and now goes onto the Bundaberg District Final to be held on March 4.
"We are very proud of all the girls', said Mrs Aplin, and "wish Dayna all the best for the next phase of the competition".
Congratulations Dayna & Kira-Lee!
